BACKGROUND

Dolphin Tungsten Mine has a long and distinguished history. The deposit was first discovered in 1911 and has been operating on and off since. Group 6 Metals recommenced operations in 2023 with commercial production of tungsten concentrate.

CHALLENGE

Finding skilled labour for certain tasks for remote King Island, Dolphin Tungsten Mine can be a challenge. There is a need for transitory workers to cover certain skills and experience, particularly around the operation start-up.

SOLUTION

JACS was engaged to fill a labour shortage at the mine and provided skilled boilermakers and fitters for the mine’s maintenance of plant and equipment.

The Dolphin Tungsten Mine is known for hosting the highest-grade tungsten deposit of significant size in the western world. Tungsten is now classified as a critical mineral by the Australian Government, and others globally.
