Some of the beautiful places the JACS team are able to visit, all in a days work
The JACS team are lucky to travel to picture postcard places in beautiful Tasmania and breathe some of the cleanest air in the world. Through their work with Hydro Tasmania and TasWater they have traversed the state from east to west, north to south.
Pictured below is scenery from a project done for Hydro Tasmania on infrastructure located between Cethana Dam and Power Station, and Lake Margaret Power Station in Tasmania’s northwest.
The historic pipeline (picture 1) is timber and are known as stave pipelines. These were introduced over 100 years ago during steel shortages and can still be seen weaving through the Tasmanian wilderness today. The wooden planks are shaped and held together by steel bands. When water fills the pipe, the timber absorbs it and swells which forces the wood planks tightly together, creating a seal that prevents the water from leaking out under pressure.
The air was so crisp and view was so far reaching, you could see the Cape Sorell Lighthouse in Strahan.
